COSTUME CLOSET CO. COSTUME HIRE TERMS & CONDITIONS 

This document outlines the Costume Closet Co. Terms & Conditions for costume hire, including hire periods, payments, delivery, returns, responsibilities, liability, and ownership provisions. 

  1. Agreement & Acceptance 

These Terms & Conditions form the full agreement between Costume Closet Co ('the Company') and the Hirer. 

By placing an order, the Hirer agrees to these Terms to the exclusion of any other terms or conditions. 

The Hirer must be 18 years or over to enter into this agreement. 

   2. Hire Period 

    The minimum hire period is 7 days. 

    The hire period begins on the day the items are dispatched and continues for the agreed hire duration. 

    Unless otherwise stated, prices are based on a 7-day hire period. 

    The hire period includes up to 2 days after the final performance date to allow time for return organisation. 

       3. Pricing & Payment 

      A non-refundable deposit of 25% of the total hire fee is required to secure a booking. No booking will be confirmed until the deposit has been received. 

      The remaining balance must be paid no later than 4 weeks prior to the dispatch date. No items will be released until payment is received in full. 

      Bookings made within 4 weeks of the dispatch date require payment in full at the time of booking. 

      All prices include VAT where applicable. 

      Prices apply to costume hire only. Accessories are included only where stated. 

      Images are for illustration purposes only. 

          4. Cancellations 

        Cancellations made more than 4 weeks before the dispatch date will receive a refund of any monies paid, less the 25% booking deposit. 

        The 25% booking deposit is non-refundable in all circumstances. 

        Cancellations made within 4 weeks of the dispatch date are non-refundable, and any outstanding balance remains payable in full. 

            5. Delivery, Returns & Inventory 

        We deliver across the UK, including Northern Ireland, via Parcelforce. 

        • Delivery includes return postage unless otherwise stated. 
        • A return label will be provided and must be retained. 
        • Costumes must be returned by the agreed return date. 

        Each order includes an inventory checklist. The Hirer is responsible for checking all items on receipt and ensuring all listed items are returned in full. 

        If items are believed to be missing or incorrect, the Hirer must notify Costume Closet Co within 48 hours of delivery. 

        Failure to report within this timeframe will be taken as acceptance that all items were received correctly. 

             6. Late Returns 

          Late returns will incur a charge of 20% of the total rental fee per day (or part day) per item. 

          If items are not returned within 7 days of the due return date, they may be treated as lost and charged at full commercial replacement value. 

               7. Costume Care & Alterations 

            • Temporary alterations (basting stitches or safety pins) are permitted. 
            • All alterations must be fully removed before return. 
            • Costumes must not be cut, permanently altered, or modified. 
            • No additional embellishments may be added. 

            Costumes must not be written on or labelled directly (masking tape only, placed inside back seam). 

            Costumes must NOT be washed or dry cleaned by the Hirer. 

                 8. Use & Responsibility 

              Costumes must remain under the supervision of the Hirer (eg dance school, responsible adult) at all times and must not be sent home with individual dancers. 

              The Hirer is fully responsible for all items from the time of dispatch until return. 

              Costumes must not: 

              • be sub-hired 
              • transferred to third parties 
              • used in unsafe or inappropriate conditions

                  9. Condition, Damage & Loss 

              All items are supplied in good condition and are deemed accepted unless reported within 48 hours of receipt. 

              The Hirer is responsible for any damage, staining, or loss during the hire period. 

              Charges may apply for cleaning, repair, or replacement. 

              If a costume, on return, is deemed beyond repair or unusable, the Hirer will be charged the full commercial replacement cost. 

                   10. Liability & Indemnity 

                The Hirer agrees to indemnify Costume Closet Co against any loss, damage, or claims arising from misuse, late return, or breach of these Terms. 

                Costume Closet Co is not liable for any indirect loss, including loss of performance, income, or opportunity. 

                Liability is limited to the total hire fee paid. 

                     11. Amendments to Orders 

                  Changes may be made subject to availability. Requests must be made as early as possible. 

                       12. Force Majeure 

                    Costume Closet Co is not liable for delays or failure to perform due to events beyond reasonable control, including transport disruption, fire, flood, strikes, or other unforeseen events. 

                         13. Termination 

                      Costume Closet Co may terminate this agreement immediately if: 

                      • payment is not made on time 
                      • there is a breach of these terms 
                      • the Hirer becomes insolvent or unable to pay debts. 

                      Upon termination, all outstanding costs remain payable and costumes must be returned immediately. 

                            14. Ownership 

                        All costumes remain the property of Costume Closet Co at all times. 

                        The Hirer has no rights to sell, sub-hire, or transfer costumes. 

                              15. Acceptance of Terms 

                          By placing an order, the Hirer confirms they have read, understood, and agree to these Terms & Conditions.
